Hi all!
I’m Candice, 30 (and counting), work in Marketing, and live in sunny Singapore.
As a kid, I used to get screamed at for painting my desk and walls with every shade in my 24-color marker set, but I’ve since moved on to painting my face and nails, with slightly better results.
As mentioned to some of my early Followers, I am “strictly unprofessional” and not currently working in the beauty industry (though I toy with the idea from time to time).
I never started out intending to be public blogger of any sort and I certainly see myself as a beauty geek more than a beauty guru. It just struck me one day that I collected so many products and did so much extensive reading on them, but the most interesting ones were always neglected and then forgotten. Doing tutorials was a perfect way for me to rediscover forgotten items, do them some justice, and hopefully help others get more mileage and fun out of makeup along the way.
Over the past months, this has become a place to let go, get creative, continually challenge my own boundaries, get inspired, and connect with people all over the world who share that same fascination with the power of makeup to define - and redefine - anyone.
Aside from exploring products on the market, I love experimenting and mixing my own custom products to get colors and textures that I can’t find.
My fiance calls it “Alchemy” and worries that my laboratory (aka bedroom) will explode one day from a freak accident, possibly involving neon pink pigment and a gallon of holographic micro-glitter.

10 Things About Me
1. How would you describe your makeup style?
I don’t have a particular style, unless you can call “never say never” a style. I have worn just about everything on my lips to work; from MLBB (Laura Mercier Bitten Lips) to nude (Revlon Soft Nude) to strong purple (Lime Crime Airborne Unicorn) - in a slightly conservative corporate environment, no less. But I usually try to highlight only one feature at a time.
I’ve also recently gotten into the 20’s flapper look when I’m really dressing up, and have worn it to (probably too many) weddings.
2. Lipstick or Lipgloss? Mascara or false lashes?
Lipstick and mascara. I do own a truck-load of lip glosses but I got tired of them never looking the way they do in the tubes. In fact, you probably won’t be able to tell the difference between 7 out of 10 lip glosses once applied on the lips. (I want some color payoff without gluing my lips together, dammit!)
3. You are late for a hot date and you have not done your face. You have space for only 3 items in your purse and these are…
Concealer, mascara, lipstick.
4. What is your biggest beauty challenge/hurdle?
Stopping myself from picking at my pores. I’m a little OCD and it drives me nuts when I see clogged pores or bumps on my skin. I swear 4 out of 5 blemishes were caused by my picking.
5. What beauty product do you have way too many of?
Lipsticks. No, make that nail polishes. No, maybe it’s eye shadows. (Or is it concealers?)
6. What are your beauty pet peeves?
Concealer that is too light. I’m not sure about the “illuminated under-eye effect”. It’s just a reverse raccoon to me.
Huge, dense false lashes on small eyes. A lot of Asian girls have the misconception “the bigger the lash, the bigger the eye”. Not a fan of the look.
Overly-stylized cutesy “gyaru”-style looks courtesy of Japanese teen culture, made worse with lots of unnatural facial expressions captured on camera phones.
7. Who is/are your favorite beauty icon(s)?
I think I like too many people to list anyone definitive. The people I feel always look fabulous are Megan Fox (does that woman ever have a hair out of place?), Sophie Ellis Bextor (a real style chameleon), Samantha Chapman from Pixiwoo (I’ve been following her channel since her first Barbie tutorial!)
8. What beauty product do you regret buying in the past half year?
All those 88 and 120 palettes. They’re great value for money, but I should have known I’d NEVER finish any of them.
Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmers. I bought 4 shades impulsively because I loved the colors, texture and minty feel, and then realised awhile later that some allergen in them was causing me to get painful rashes all over my lips every time I used them. (If you don’t have this problem, they’re great.)
9. What (1-3) items is/are on your current Beauty Wishlist?
MAC Ruby Woo, and Please Me lipsticks.
Also Blonde MSF which is out with the Naturally collection (hitting Asia only in Feb).
10. If you were an animal/creature, you would probably be a…
I’d like to say Cat (I love them by the way), but I’m nowhere near as poised so I’m not going to pretend.
Definitely Dragon. Makeup is my hoard and I am insanely attracted to any shiny, sparkly, colorful new release. I also have an irrational fear of running out of my favorite things, so I hoard backups like nobody’s business.
