Candice: Yes, I am!
Are you pure Singaporean? I can't believe it because you're so pretty and have such deep creases!
Candice: (Thank you, LOL!) My mother is Indonesian-Chinese, but yes, my ethnicity is still Chinese. My maternal family members mostly have deep creases, so it sort of runs in the family.
Anonymous: Hi! Do you have any tips for making skin look not quite so... pore-y after applying powder foundation? Do I have to use liquid foundation instead? Thank you!
Candice: I actually like to mix a little HD powder (many brands like MAC, Make Up For Ever and elf have a version. Just look for the ingredient Silica) into my powder for setting. The silica diminishes the look of lines and pores, so it does help a bit. Also, I do use a light foundation, and then apply powder only on the T-zone and inner cheeks where I tend to get oilier. I leave the rest of the face un-powdered so that side-steps the problem.
Anonymous: R fake lashes heavy on the eyes?
Candice: Nope, most actually aren't. It's just the glue you need to be careful about as applying too much or applying it wrong can be just slightly uncomfortable on the lash line. It's not going to feel like any significant weight though, unless you are wearing really dramatic lashes with rhine-stones, feathers and a whole lot of other decorations.
Anonymous: I've always had this problem where my foundation oxidizes on me. It always does it very soon after application. Whenever I ask this question people tell me to try a lighter colour so when it does it looks closer, but I already always have to buy the lightest, which is just barely light enough in most cases. I've tried a lot of brands, mostly drugstore. I wanted to know if you had recommendations for foundations I could try, preferable ones that won't completely break the bank.
Candice: This is a tough one. I can only say to invest in a white foundation or liquid makeup from makeup artist brands such as MAC or Kryolan, etc. A little bit goes a long way, so it's worth it. This way, you can just buy any drugstore shade close to your skin tone and get a perfect match by mixing with a bit of white foundation on the back of your hand before applying.
Anonymous: hi! i just want to know how you would make your brown eyes really pop?
Candice: Brown eyes pretty much go with any color shadow because they are almost black, but to bring out more of their color, make sure you keep some black around the lash line, with liquid liner or mascara, etc. If your eyes are a softer brown, then purples and blues tend to bring them out, as well as a matching brown shadow.
Anonymous: Do you have any advice (or products) for getting rid of old blemish scars?
Candice: It's actually not possible to get rid of old scar tissue (especially raised or pitted marks) quickly unless you go for laser procedures. What I do to help them fade faster is to use hirudoid gel (available at chemists/drugstores) as early as possible while the marks are still red as this helps to speed up healing and blood circulation. This helps the mark to be less deep after the blemish is gone. Then I just apply my usual vitamin/antioxidant-loaded serum (anything that says "whitening" or "even-tone" serves this function) daily.
Anonymous: Any tips for makeup for a ginger with grey-blue eyes?
Candice: Go for an eye shadow shade with the same coppery-gold undertones as your hair!
Anonymous: I want to play up my look I'm bored of the simple look! do you have any ideas for makeup looks for blonde hair, blue eyes & pale skin ??
Candice: Play up your lips with a strong fuchsia or crimson lipstick! Makes very big impact with fair coloring, using minimal extra effort. And yes - it looks fabulous in the daytime. Matte lipsticks will look a bit more day-appropriate and be lower-maintenance than creamy/glossy formulas.
Anonymous: What would you suggest for makeup for going to a rock concert? One where I'll be jumping around a lot.
Candice: Wear a face and body foundation like MAC's or Make Up For Ever's, use a waterproof gel/creme shadow on the lids, use minimal liner, CURL your lashes very well before applying any waterproof mascara, use only non-powdery products like cheek and lip stains, and arm yourself with lots of blotting sheets and tissue to wipe away sweat! Expect to touch up and clean up a bit, so avoid anything too powdery as it will cake and be impossible to touch up.
