Beauty Q&A: LOONG post with as many of your questions answered as I can!

I’m a teenager and I’ve been saving up my money and I have enough for a Naked basics palette. I’ve been debating and doing research and I’ve found an alternative from Sonia Kashuk that’s 6 more shades and 7 less dollars. I can’t decide which I want to go for, or I’d I should just save up for the Naked 1 or 2. Please help. Which do you like better?

I would say to check out the Sonia Kashuk first!

It’s very good quality and a collection of very flattering and pigmented colors, and aside from brand and packaging, there isn’t really a need to grab the Naked 1 or 2 if you can access the SK. Honestly, once it’s on the lids, who can tell if your neutral shadows cost $10 or $40? If at some later point, you decide that you need something with higher pigmentation levels for more dramatic makeup, it’s not too late to upgrade to something more high-end.

Hey! My graduation is next week! Mu dress is rose gold and i really need a nighttime makeup look for that color! Do you have any recommendations? Thanks in advance

Summer Lip Colors I’m Loving Now!

The past 2 years, I was nuts about bright matte colors. This year, I’ve gone for slightly creamier alternatives mostly.

Here are 4 colors that I’m loving for Summer 2013!

1. Stila Color Balm Lipstick in Elle

Bright peachy-pink. It shows up whiter on camera but is actually almost neon in real life.

2. Stila Color Balm Lipstick in Betsey

I never quite fell out of love with neon blue-pinks. Here’s one that is not only creamy and cushy to wear, but also has lots of pigmentation!

3. Lime Crime Airborne Unicorn

This baby is still my favorite purple lipstick in the world. It’s not only a really bright purple (it’s a it more magenta and not quite as blue off-camera), it actually is quite flattering on many skin tones as well. Don’t knock it ‘til you try it!

4. Sephora Long Lasting Lipstick No 12

Rich, classy rosy color that’s not too blue and not too red. And it sets to an opaque satin finish that is neither too matte nor too creamy to last. This is one of those “indelible” lipsticks that resists kissing off with light activity (drinking and talking).

Only descriptions and extra tips below if you need it! Let me know if you prefer this or if you want the pictures and steps laid out one by one like I used to do it.

Tip: When applying the blue shadows, close your eye and wiggle the brush along your lash line so it gets on the lower lid as well.

Nail Tutorial: Striped Turquoise and Teal Nails with Pink Acrylic Bow accent

Step 1: Paint your nails a base shade of turquoise or aqua. I used China Glaze’s For Audrey.

Step 2: Next you want to have some striping tape. If you don’t have any, you can either do it free-hand if you don’t mind lines that aren’t as straight, or cut scotchtape into strips.

"The “Get To Know Me” Post (Some Random Facts about Candice/Makeupbox)"

There were a few requests a while back asking to know more about me outside of makeup. Sorry I took so long to get down to it!

(Long post, so if you don’t want to read skip this and I’ll be back with more pictorials tomorrow!)

1. I love most mammals and birds. I’ve owned 2 dogs, 2 turtles (which we set free eventually), 4 birds (which we also set free), and most recently a cat (who passed away last year :’(…) I donate to animal welfare organisations monthly because sometimes, the least you can do is better than nothing!

Oh I like reptiles too. I wouldn’t pet a snake because I’m not sure they enjoy it when we do that, but I think they’re beautiful.

I want to be Cesar Milan when I grow up. (Just joking…)

2. I am a complete bookworm. I used to devour just about any book when I was a kid. Nowadays, I’ve got a mix of horror, crime/suspense, and a sprinkling of horror in my Kindle.

3. I heart Chocolate. (Cue heavenly music.)

Easy-to-Wear “Monochrome Matte Mauve” (3M) Look

This is a simple pink-purple themed look featuring matte textures, and a light hand.

I used an old MAC matte eyeshadow duo called “Dynamic Duo 4”, which is a pastel pink and a deep dark purple. You can easily find similar shades in something like the 88 matte palette or any matte budget eyeshadow palette from sites like coastalscents.com or bhcosmetics.com.

Step 1: First use a fluffy brush to apply the pastel pink from the central area of the lid towards the outer corners. Leave the inner corners of the eye bare.
