[Requested] Olivia Palermo Eye makeup: Tips for women with thick lids and/or deep sockets

Olivia has got to be one of the most beautiful women in the world, in my opinion. She reminds me of Penelope Cruz, Heather Graham and Shania Twain all rolled into one.

I didn’t want to do this post initially, because Olivia’s makeup looks the way it does largely due to her natural eye shape (more common among Indian and Mediterranean women).

  • Very deep and defined sockets
  • Huge, rounded eyes, slightly down-turned at the outer corners
  • Very thick double-lids
  • Medium lid space (probably the only thing I have in common with her, in that her brows are not very far or very low and close to her eyes)

The makeup is quite straightforward and there are no restrictions for skintone. But if your eye shape is very different, it will NOT look like hers, The good news is, everyone with a double lid can wear this makeup.

Not recommended if you have mono-lids or very hooded lids, because this is a shape that emphasizes the visible fold and lash line.

Electric Ocean: Intense Glowing Blue-Green Smoky Eye (120 Palette 2nd Edition)

This has turned into a budget palette week!

Well, I haven’t been using them enough, and considering many of you own one or more of these, I figured I’d do a couple of looks with them.

One of the key things about these palettes is the range of strong color options, and I picked the brightest, truest blue in the bunch, and paired it with a softer teal green. (See two circled shades above.)

Answers for 2 Singapore-specific Shopping Questions!

Hi there, I was wondering what i could get my mum for mothers day and im not sure what to do? Thank you so much

1.    When my budget is small to mid-range, I will think about what brands have cute packaging, aren’t expensive, and that she DOESN’T often have access to. E.g. my mom never visits Sephora, so I will go for the beautifully packaged products from brands like Bliss, Fresh, Soap & Glory, etc, so it’s something different for her, but doesn’t break the bank.

NOTD: Essie Orange It’s Obvious (and Incredibly Cute Fimo Citrus Fruit Manicure!)

Something juicy and bright for the digits this week!

I love playing with fimo slices. They’re incredibly detailed and cute. And fruit-themed fimo slices ALWAYS put a smile on my face. You can find full uncut canes and a one-sided blade like the ones below on places like ebay, lightinthebox.com, tkbtrading.com, etc. This is the cheaper way to get fimo because you can easily get over a hundred slices per cane.

You can also purchase ready-cut fimo slices that come in jars or partitioned nail-art wheels. Those are more expensive, but you save the hassle of having to fiddle with a blade and wasting badly-cut slices.

Butterfly Fields: Fantasy-Green Eyeshadow Look (with Paperself Lashes)

I got requests for brighter or more dramatic color, and something green, so here’s one that’s kinda all those rolled into one.

Paperself stockists: http://www.paperself.com/ps%20%20all.html

I whipped out my 88 Shimmer palette for this. (I always forget I love this baby. It’s not dusty and the colors are beautiful.) But like most shadows, it’s very important to wear a primer or some kind of base on your lid for the pigments to cling to, if you want to get the most intense effect.
