Follower Interview: 10 Things About samoanmami
TUMBLR: samoanmami
Hmm, well not sure where I should start or stop. I am a 27 years young “girl” I say girl in quotes because I wasn’t born biologically a girl but live my life as one. Confused right at the start huh? :) I am a transgendered woman from Honolulu, Hawaii. I work for a tours and trans company in a cluttered office where I do the same thing over and over again, so basically all of my super make-up powers are wasted on a day of answering phones to people who can’t really see the awesome job I did on my make-up. I am a firm believer on make-up to make you feel better.
People say that its superficial but I don’t think so, if it makes you feel good then do it! That also applies to anything else that you do in life. Well I guess I should stop here before I never do. Thanks for stopping by. Oh feel free to let me know how I’m doing with my cosmetic applications, I take criticism very well so if you have to… FIRE AWAY!!! Mahalo…

1. How would you describe your makeup style?
I definitely would have to say I love the modern smoke look, maybe because it’s easy to do and hard to mess up, i.e: if you do just blend and you’ll be fine. I also like to take inspirations from the 80’s and dial it back for a more updated look. I think it’s the loud colors that catch my eye..lids.
2. Lipstick or Lipgloss? Mascara or false lashes?
This is a hard question only because I would probably use both. Is that an acceptable answer? Ok ok, if I had to choose, Lipgloss and False Lashes!
3. You are late for a hot date and you have not done your face. You have space for only 3 items in your purse and these are…
Mac Studio Fix in NC-45/MAC lipglass(not gloss)/Covergirl Lashblast Mascara in blackest black.
4. What is your biggest beauty challenge/hurdle? (e.g. applying blush without looking like a clown… applying liquid liner…etc)
My biggest beauty challenge is applying false lashes with a tweezer. When I first tried using it, I used my fingers and gotten used to it. Now when I try applying with a tweezer I end up poking my eyeball out. Resulting in teary eyes and ruined eyeliner.
5. What beauty product do you have way too many of?
WAY TOO MANY LIP GLOSSES! I only use a total of three different gloss/glasses that I really enjoy. But I do like to collect. ;)
6. What are your beauty pet peeves? (List 1-3.)
A) Chapped lips that gloss is applied to.
B) Eyes that are not blended well (hard edges)
C) CASPER SKIN!!! (you know what i mean)
7. Who is/are your favorite beauty icon(s)?
My mom, Eva Longoria, and Cher simply because shes TIMELESS.
8. What beauty product do you regret buying in the past half year? (List 1-3; hopefully you don’t have too many…)
Is it safe to say that I don’t regret buying make-up? I’m very careful when it comes to buying cosmetics. Foundation can be tricky but if you know your skin well and you don’t allow the associates @ the counter tell you otherwise then you’ll be just fine.
9. What (1-3) items is/are on your current Beauty Wishlist?
A) a 12 or more pallette of eye shadows from MAC
B) A Super caboodle to hold all the make-up I have and room for more and more!!!
C) Orgasm Blush from NARS…
10. If you were an animal/creature, you would probably be a…
A phoenix. The fiery one from XMEN! I think it matches my personality.

Candice: Thanks, Tara!
And I agree with you; I don’t think beauty is superficial if it makes you stronger, and more open as a human being.
We never feel 100% confident all the time, and beauty/makeup is just one of the things that can help remind OURSELVES first and foremost that we’re worth the self-care and self-respect.
