Requested: Swatch Comparisons between MAC Idol Eyes and “Dupes” Wet n Wild Greed Palette and L’oreal Flashback Silver
—
Just a very quick post to show in detail how these 3 shadows look next to each other! They are quite close, as you can see.
MAC Idol Eyes is a Lustre shadow with soft, gritty grey-silver sparkle and a slight yellow-gold duo-chrome sheen. Applied dry, it can be flaky with poor payoff. Wet, it’s gorgeous. What lures most buyers in is that slight lavender undertones which is oh-so-pretty.
Wet n Wild has a 6-color eye palette called Greed, which is VERY similar. It’s likewise a soft, flaky grey-silver with a duo-chrome gold sheen as well, but the silver isn’t as bright and the shadow is VERY sheer and hard to build up to intensity, so unfortunately, the duo-chrome effect is not going to be very obvious on the lids. Even wet, the color payoff is not that good. You also won’t get any obvious lavender undertone on your skin.
The last shade is L’oreal’s Infallible Shadow in Flashblack Silver, which is a similar grey-silver sparkly, but the slight lavender undertone is the strongest of the three, and you get tiny sparks of gold, instead of a duo-chromatic sheen. It’s not strictly a dupe for Idol Eyes, but it’s DEFINITELY beautiful.
In fact, out of all 3, the payoff and general quality is MUCH better, even without dampening the pigments. You also get 3.5g of product (more than double a 1.5g MAC eye shadow pan), which you can easily apply with your fingers. Try using your fingers with the other 2, and you’ll ruin them.
