REQUEST: Smoky Day Formal/Wedding Look using Urban Decay Naked Palette

I got a request to do a natural look using the Urban Decay Naked Palette for a wedding, but I couldn’t resist adding some smoke to it!
I’ve found that smoking things up a little looks FABULOUS in photographs when you want to look “done”. This is for a formal event, so you do have the option of jazzing it up just a little (and getting compliments on your new sultry look).
To my anonymous requestor: This is really easy to do and also easy to switch up. Just give it a test-try, and if you do not like it, you can always replace the shades I used with Option 2 below.
Option 1: Daring
- Deep shade - Gunmetal
- Blending shade - Half Baked
- Liner - Zero
- Deep shade - Buck
- Blending shade - Sidecar
- Liner - Whiskey
Obviously, I’m doing the more dramatic look, and I’m combining 2 opposite tones (cool charcoal and amber gold) to create a dramatic neutral look.
Disclaimer: I do not own the Naked palette, but I have Urban Decay Half-Baked in single shadow form, and Ace from the 15th Anniversary Palette which is pretty identical to Gunmetal.

Step 1: First, pick up the deep shade and very gently pack it over the entire lid area, EXCEPT for the innermost corners. Don’t smoke it up too far as the dark shade should stay within the socket line.

Step 2: Now with the golden shade, run it from the inner corner and out along the socket line, blending and smoking into the top of the charcoal grey. This gives a very pretty transition to the color (and looks way more complicated than it is!)

Step 3: Now for definition. I rubbed a pencil brush over the tip of a black pencil and then gently applied it to the lash line. (I did this in another tutorial recently.) This gives you a very nice smoky and well-blended line. If you don’t have a flat or pointed brush, don’t worry about it. Just run your pencil directly along your lash line and smudge it out VERY lightly with a finger tip.
Just be careful not to rub your shadow off.

Step 4: Finish with black mascara and you’ll have a sultry, neutral look that goes with soft lips.
If you prefer to use the softer color combination listed above, you CAN wear a stronger lip with it.

P.S. You can actually recreate this look with ANY combination of “deep” and “blending” shades in the palette!
