The Most FABULOUS Glitter Liner In The World (Glitter Foil Liner Tutorial)

When you need a whole party on your eyelids, nothing but the most intense glitter liner will do. And what can be more intense than transfer foil?

This is much simpler than the foiled-lid look I did previously, and you can also simplify it further by using a single foil color rather than two like I did. The main item you need to pull this off is a good eyelash glue, like Eye Charm or DUO. (I prefer Eye Charm just because it’s cheaper and comes with a convenient eyeliner brush.)

When choosing the foil, I would pick glitter or plain patterns because larger patterns aren’t going to show up well in a thin strip along your lash line.

Tip: If you’re not sure about drying times or general application, test on the back of your hand first!

Electric Ocean: Intense Glowing Blue-Green Smoky Eye (120 Palette 2nd Edition)

This has turned into a budget palette week!

Well, I haven’t been using them enough, and considering many of you own one or more of these, I figured I’d do a couple of looks with them.

One of the key things about these palettes is the range of strong color options, and I picked the brightest, truest blue in the bunch, and paired it with a softer teal green. (See two circled shades above.)

Matte Rainbow Eyeshadow Tutorial (88 Original Eyeshadow Palette)

I got some requests for brighter/stronger colors so I’m going to do a few that are fitting for Spring/Summer!

One of the things that you might want to consider owning if you are into colors and or just starting out with makeup is something like the 88 original eyeshadow palette. For very little money, you get tons of pigmented shades to experiment with, in one portable palette. This is the same thing as you’d find on places like Coastalscents.com and eBay. Everyone gets them from the same source even if the brand stamped on the top is different, so it makes sense to look for the cheapest option around.

Water Sprite: Majolica Majorca Little Humming Book II Blue and Gold Doll-Eye Makeup Tutorial

Here’s a peek into the Little Humming Bird II Eyeshadow Palette, which Shiseido released to celebrate Majolica Majorca’s 10th Year Anniversary as part of its Chapter 37 limited edition collection.

(And yes the melody book is a continuation of what you find in Book I.)

Comparisons with Book I:

  • The cream base is a pearlescent tan shade rather than dark matte one so the overall effect you get from the palette will be quite pale and pastel
  • Shadows are a translucent pastel aqua-blue and pale gold, but they don’t have the same duochrome effect (like the ones in the 1st palette) if you layer them over a dark base

I also used:

  • A dark blue liner (I used KATE gel liner in BU-1)
  • A black liquid liner (I used Heroine Make Impact Liquid liner)
  • Red Cherry lashes #68
  • D.E. lower cluster lashes

Cheater’s stacked “double-liner” eye tutorial

It looks really nice to stack 2 lines of liquid liner one on top of the other on the lid, but it’s not the easiest thing to do if you’re quite new at it, or if you don’t have a lot of time to fuss with your makeup. It’s also fun and bright, but not too dramatic (if you skip the falsies) to wear in the day because the color is just limited to the lash line.

Here’s how you can get the same effect without having to worry about a steady hand.

You will need just a shadow of your choice, and a gel liner of your choice. Make sure that the 2 colors aren’t too similar or you won’t get that pretty effect.

I chose a pastel turquoise blue from L’oreal Infallible range, and a deep cobalt blue matte cream liner from Laura Mercier (it’s similar to MAC’s Waveline, but with a little less violet in the undertone). I also have a pair of dramatic flared lashes from Sephora called Cabaret.

A few other things you need:

  • lid primer and powder or skin-colored matte shadow
  • water, eye drops, OR alcohol-free toner
  • mascara

Blue Wing: One more way to wear strong colored eyeshadow without going over the top!

This look is very simple once you look at the below image. The eye is divided into 4 quadrants. In each quadrant is 1 shade. The 2 at the inner halves are taupes, and the 2 at the outer halves are blues. The 2 nearer the lashes are dark, and the 2 above are lighter.
