Emerald Encrusted: Teal-Green Glitter Eye
—-
I wanted to do more dramatic glitter eyes, so this time round, I went for a deep forest green micro-glitter.
The effect you want is a really “gem-encrusted” finish over the lids, and I’m not going to lie; it’s not exactly comfortable to wear once the sealant dries. It will be a bit hard to open your eyes wide, which is the reason I shaped the eye to look a little “lazy”.
—-
Step 1: Using a cut-crease technique with a black eye shadow and a fine, pointed brush, draw a line along the hollow of the socket, stopping before you reach the outer and inner corners of the eye, so there is a gap.
Run along the outer half of the lower lash line as well.

 —-
Step 2: Dampen your lid with a glitter sealant (you can get some from L.A. Splash, Napoleon Perdis, clear mascara, or mix your own), and then use your finger to pack on a thick layer of glitter. Press so the flecks are evenly distributed. You will probably have to over-apply in about 1-2 layers, and dust off the excess.
Fingers will work much better than brushes.
The black shadow at your socket line should look almost like a subtle shadow rather than an obvious line, by this point.

 —-
Step 3: Curl your lashes and apply full false lashes over them. I chose a pair that is longer at the outer ends. By this time, your lids should be dry and will feel a little “stiff”. Finish with black mascara on the bottom lashes.

 —-
Finished Look: The lazy, dramatic, exaggeratedly-rounded emerald eye (with flash). This look can be used for both double and monolids.

 —-
On the rest of the face, I applied a fresh pink blush (NYX Pinky), and a muted blush-nude lip (MAC Faux Satin Lipstick). The eye is so dramatic that you probably want to give glitter and gloss a miss on the rest of the face.

J-Lo “I’m Into You” Makeup Run-down!

Amazing makeup looks galore!

Jennifer went through at least about 5 eye makeup looks in this one video alone, and I captured them below.

Some things that stayed the same throughout are the bronzed, glowing skin and soft creamy blush-toned lips, but everything is about very dramatic lined eyes, drawing from recent catwalk looks and definite Egyptian inspirations.

—-

1: Super-fierce cat eye look

This appears in the scenes when she is in the whole African Queen get-up.

Thick filled-in brows, super strong liner on upper and lower lash lines, winging out and connecting. Lower liner is a distance from the lashes and downward tilting at the inner corners for a cat-eyed look.

Make sure you have super full and long lashes. Or try stacking 2 strips

 —-

2: Metallic 60’s Mod Eye

This was seen on the runways the past season, with a black line drawn above the socket line, and pale matte shadow on the lids. Here, but a silver shade was used to keep a sheen on her skin. (I loved the whole Shakira-esque take, with the big curly blonde-streaked hair and booty-shaking.)

This is probably my favorite look in this video.

—-

3: Super Dramatic Egyptian Liner

This look did not appear much, but it immediately looked different from the 60s Mod looks above.

There were 3 lines winged out almost straight at the outer ends from the socket, with only the 2 lash lines meeting. Very Egyptian and dramatic.

Her shadow here was a sheer white tone that looks almost matte, to bring out the lines more.

4: Sultry, Dewy Look

This look appears every time you see her in the water, snuggling up to a dude.

It’s arguably the simplest look, with just a warm smoky-brown wash on the lids and full, wispy lashes. But if you want to mimic the “wet” effect with petroleum jelly or baby oil gel, etc. i suggest keeping it to the tops of your cheekbones and temples.

It WILL look oily, so be warned.

5: Defined Cat Eye with Soft Socket Line

This is the second of my favorite looks. Its a variation of the Egyptian eye, but the line at the socket is a soft brown instead of a hard black, so her contours are highlighted, but it doesn’t look overly dramatic.

There’s a big, black cat-eye going along her upper lids. On the lower lids, the black only extends from the outer ends of her lower lash line outwards. The space between upper and lower lines is filled in for a super-thick kitten flick.

As always, you need massive lashes to cope with the liner!

Get the look with a satiny platinum (with a sheen) and bright, matte blue.
Don’t forget to line the inner rims of your eyes with black pencil, and then pile on heaps of black mascara.

"RuPaul’s Top 3 Drag Queens Share Their Beauty Tips"

  April 26, 2011

Hail to the queen! Drag queen, that is. Last night, Raja was crowned America’s Next Drag Superstar during the finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race. At the official finale preview party, I caught up with Raja and the finalists, who each shared their top beauty tips to, as RuPaul would say, “looking good, feeling gorgeous.”

Manila Luzon (above, left)
First runner-up Luzon is a New York native whose style is as creative as it is endearingly kitschy.

1. Load on mascara. “Just when you think that you have put too much mascara on and you look like Tammy Faye Bakker—God rest her soul—just put another tube on. I always use Maybelline Great Lash Mascara. It’s a classic and it does a great job.”

2. The bigger the hair, the better. “If a girl is feeling a little fat, if a girl is feeling short, if a girl is just not feeling right about herself, all she needs to do is jack out her hair. It will make the proportions of your body look so much better if you have bigger hair. You must have a good back-teasing comb for that. You can find one at any beauty supply store for like $2. And that’s really what drag is all about. It’s all about looking like a million dollars, but spending $12.”

3. High heels. ”You must always have fierce-ass shoes, girl. Shoes make you taller and longer, they make your legs look longer and thinner, they make your feet look much, much, much, much smaller. And when you’re a man and you’ve got a size 10 or 11 foot, they’re helpful. You don’t want to be a beautiful goddess walking around with Ronald McDonald feet. I like to find shoes that have a little sparkle to them.”

Raja (above, center)
Raja’s high-fashion looks run the gamut from pin-up to tribal. Her beauty skills run deep, thanks to 17 years as a makeup artist (10 of those at a M.A.C. counter).

1. Moisturize day and night. ”Moisturizing just keeps your skin looking youthful. Ultimately, we’re all animals and we have to upkeep our hides. I mean, it seems really primal and weird, but honestly they are our hides so we have to keep them soft and supple.” Raja uses Aveda All-Sensitive Moisturizer during the day, and Sampar Lavish Dream Cream at night.

2. Flirt. “Flirting is one of the greatest beauty tips, because as long as you’re flirting, you’re smiling and the muscles in your face are nice and tight. I’ve been flirting for 36 years, and it’s worked for me.”

3. Customize your scent. “I go between six different scents, and I mix women’s and men’s together. One of my favorites right now is Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. It has that rustic feel of tobacco but yet it’s super-soft and kind of candy-like with the vanilla, which is really like my personality. It’s a combination of rugged with a touch of lady. You’ve always got to have a touch of lady.”

Alexis Mateo (above, right)
Ultra-femme and glamorous, Mateo does her homeland of Puerto Rico—the arguable beauty pageant capital of the world—proud.

1. Don’t be scared of makeup. ”Women are too scared of makeup. Makeup is made for women, and we drag queens just borrow it. But drag queens are showing girls that it’s ok to be feminine. My favorite brands are La Femme Cosmetics and M.A.C. The colors are dark and intense and they really show up.”

2. Clean hair. “It doesn’t matter if your hair is curly or straight or up or down: As long as it’s clean, it’s beautiful. I use Pantene Pro-V Curls to Straight Shampoo. I have curly, frizzy hair, and that shampoo really controls my frizz. Plus it’s cheap!”

3. A signature fragrance. “Having one favorite scent just automatically makes you feel pretty. People recognize it, and you’re familiar with it, and it makes you associate certain things with that scent. This is going to sound super-corny, but I love White Diamonds. It reminds me of my mother. Anytime I smell it, it reminds me of love. I wear it all the time. I’m actually wearing it tonight!”

Oh. My. Gawd.
I’ve gotta say that I’m not an avid follower, but Kylie has always been one of the women I consider a true style chameleon.
Sure, Lady Gaga can make a statement by being shocking.
But on Kylie, even the most impossibly dramatic drag makeup has a way of looking flattering and almost natural.
