Electric Ocean: Intense Glowing Blue-Green Smoky Eye (120 Palette 2nd Edition)

This has turned into a budget palette week!

Well, I haven’t been using them enough, and considering many of you own one or more of these, I figured I’d do a couple of looks with them.

One of the key things about these palettes is the range of strong color options, and I picked the brightest, truest blue in the bunch, and paired it with a softer teal green. (See two circled shades above.)

Smoky Eyes with a Pastel Accent: Great with any pastel blues, greens, violets, gold, etc!

I’ve gotten quite a few questions on how to work pastels, blues and greens into a smoky look because we always end up buying so many of those pale shimmery shades and they look so nice in the pan, but quite unflattering all over the lid.

Here’s a quick way to add a dash of “pretty” without ever losing your “sultry” or looking “like a harlot” (as i-remain-nameless so hilariously put it).

Weekend FOTD: Soft Glimmering Bronze lids and Metallic Nude Lips

A quick but polished look with a bit of glimmer on the lids and lips. This is something I might also wear for work, though I might go a little easier on the eyes and not make it so smoky.

Soft, Warm Copper Eye Makeup (Transition from Day to Night for Valentine’s using Revlon Colorstay Eyeshadows!)

What’s a girl to do if she’s got class or work in the day, and no time to run home and redo her makeup after that? Wear makeup that you can easily transit from day to evening!

Valentine’s (or anytime you are spending a time in close proximity with any typical guy) is probably not the time for bright blue liner and lime green shadow, so I’m throwing out a simpler, more subtle look first.

Those of you with blue eyes should take especial note of the color combination if you want something that can take you from day to night, AND brings out the blue tones in your eyes.

Peppermint Mocha Sandwich Eyeshadow Tutorial: Shot of green sandwiched between Browns

(88 Original Palette)

This is a simple matte eyeshadow look that is good for neutral lovers or those who prefer things simple and subtle with a spike of something different. (And now I look at it, it looks like Starbucks colors…)

I used 3 matte shades in the 88 original palette: A medium green, a soft taupe brown, and a dark black-brown. You can replace the green with any other color you want. Just change it up and experiment!

Good for:

  • Mature/lined lids
  • Matte shadow lovers
  • Double-lids
  • Brown eyes  (Tip: if you have blue eyes, try an orange, copper, or even a pink for the colored stripe; if you have green or hazel eyes, try violet or lavender.)

Twilight-Bloom: Intense Pink, Lavender and Cocoa Eyeshadow Tutorial (88 Shimmer Palette)

This color combination just reminded me of some exotic, poisonous bloom surrounded by dark woods.

 Good for:

  • All eye colors
  • Medium-fair to Dark skintones
  • Double-lids (it could still work for some mono-lids if you have quite a bit of lid space, but otherwise it might not be as flattering)
  • Those with little lines/dryness around the eye area (those with more mature skin can swop to completely-matte shades in similar colors)
