Water Sprite: Majolica Majorca Little Humming Book II Blue and Gold Doll-Eye Makeup Tutorial

Here’s a peek into the Little Humming Bird II Eyeshadow Palette, which Shiseido released to celebrate Majolica Majorca’s 10th Year Anniversary as part of its Chapter 37 limited edition collection.

(And yes the melody book is a continuation of what you find in Book I.)

Comparisons with Book I:

  • The cream base is a pearlescent tan shade rather than dark matte one so the overall effect you get from the palette will be quite pale and pastel
  • Shadows are a translucent pastel aqua-blue and pale gold, but they don’t have the same duochrome effect (like the ones in the 1st palette) if you layer them over a dark base

I also used:

  • A dark blue liner (I used KATE gel liner in BU-1)
  • A black liquid liner (I used Heroine Make Impact Liquid liner)
  • Red Cherry lashes #68
  • D.E. lower cluster lashes

Brushed Metal “Chrome” Nails: How to Use Your Eyeshadows in your Manicure!

Imagine turning your favorite eye shadows into nail polish shades without having to tip tons of pigment into a whole bottle of clear polish or make a mess mixing it on a dish. You just dust it on, topcoat it, and go.

Stay posted for the eye look shown above in the next couple of days!

You just need to add 1 item into your collection; the Repositionable Glue. I don’t need to remind you to look for one that is water-based and non-toxic. Repositionable glues are used to make cut-outs. What these glues do is they go on milky, then dry clear and TACKY, so you can use them like a sticker. (Remember you read it here before some brand repackages it in a smaller bottle, gives it a fancy name and sells it to you for a fancy price LOL!)

Purple Pansy: Easy Spring/Summer Purple-and-Yellow-Gold Eye shadow Look

According to Color Theory, yellow and purple are the 2 shades that lie right smack-dab between blue (cool) and red (warm), so technically, they are the 2 “true neutrals”.

They are also diametrically opposite each other in the Color Wheel, so wearing them together is a quick way to get contrast without a lot of work.

Good for:

  • Any eye shape
  • Any eye color

You will need:

  1. A brown cream shadow base or gel liner (I used Maybelline Gel Liner as usual)
  2. A yellow eye pencil (NYX Yellow pencil)
  3. A bright yellow gold shadow (I used Coastal Scents Hot Pot in Golden Buttercup)
  4. A rich medium-toned purple (I used an old purple pigment from a Japanese drugstore brand called Michiko London; I don’t think the company is still around). You can choose any rich purple you have, or something similar to MAC Parfait Amour or Satellite Dreams.
  5. Black mascara or false lashes

Weekend FOTD: Soft Glimmering Bronze lids and Metallic Nude Lips

A quick but polished look with a bit of glimmer on the lids and lips. This is something I might also wear for work, though I might go a little easier on the eyes and not make it so smoky.

Soft Platinum Neutrals Eyeshadow Tutorial (88 Warm Palette)

Here’s a simple but still polished and defined look that would take you from work to casual settings. I worked with a pale platinum-gold, a charcoal and a dark brown. The only shade that isn’t matte is the pale yellow-gold, but even that is a satiny texture rather than very sparkly or metallic.

Great for:

  • Mature lids
  • Hooded lids
  • Mono lids
  • Widening close-set eyes

Golden Bronze Cat Eye Tutorial (88 Warm Palette)

—-

My 88 Warm Palette has been in cold storage lately, as tends to happen when you are always trying new things. This is a look you don’t need the 88 palette to create, as there are lots of similar shades in other palettes as well.

The shades you’ll need to pick are

  • A soft beige- or malt-gold that isn’t too far off from your skin tone
  • A warmer, stronger amber-gold with some orange in it
  • A soft burgundy with a pearl sheen (surprise; this gives the whole look more depth than just sticking with a deep bronze or brown)

—-

Step 1: Apply the soft gold all the way from inner corners up to the brow bone, leaving just the outer-most corners of the eye clean. Run along lower lash line half-way from inner corners out as well.

 —-

Step 2: Pack the warm ambery gold onto the outer 1/3 of the lid below the socket, and then extend up to the brow bone. Notice I extended the color inwards more along the deepest part of the socket line. This will give your eye more definition instead of allowing all the bright colors to wipe out your contours.

Run the amber along the outer half of the lower lash lines as well.

—-

Step 3: Pick up a warm, rich burgundy and pack that right in the outermost corners of the lid, then also lightly sweep the remaining pigment on the brush up towards the end of your brow as well. This will make the look a lot richer and stop the eye look from going too brassy and yellow.

 —-

Step 4: Apply a black pencil along the tightline and waterline, and then use black liquid or gel liner to apply a thick flick at the outer corners. Finish with black mascara.

—-

The finished effect is polished, dramatic (how often do we wear color all the way up to our brows?), but at the same time not over-the-top because it should work with your natural skin tone. You can choose to pair this with a strong lip, but I prefer just going the natural route with this.

On Rest of Face:

  • TheBalm Hot Mama blush (my favorite warm coral blush)
  • NYX Iced Honey lipstick (metallic beige/nude)
  • Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Coral Reef (sheer coral creme)
*Quick tip: Applying a creme gloss over a metallic or pearly lipstick is a way to juice up your pout without adding a lot of obvious shimmer and sparkle.
