Elegant Champagne, Pearl and Gold Skittle Nails

I love Skittle nails. They’re coordinated but not identical. For this look I used

  • a gold polish,
  • gold glitter,
  • respositionable glue or foil glue
  • a bronze-gold foil (mine was un-named and un-numbered from eBay but dollarnailart.com’s Daybreak and Bronze are both very similar).
  • Matte sealer and Gloss Sealer (from the art store)
  • 2 x Ivory colored fimo flowers
  • 4 x 1 mm flat-back pearls

Note: You don’t need to use the same decorations as I did. If you prefer rhinestones and stickers, or free-hand painting, go right ahead.

Beauty Q&A: LOONG post with as many of your questions answered as I can!

I’m a teenager and I’ve been saving up my money and I have enough for a Naked basics palette. I’ve been debating and doing research and I’ve found an alternative from Sonia Kashuk that’s 6 more shades and 7 less dollars. I can’t decide which I want to go for, or I’d I should just save up for the Naked 1 or 2. Please help. Which do you like better?

I would say to check out the Sonia Kashuk first!

It’s very good quality and a collection of very flattering and pigmented colors, and aside from brand and packaging, there isn’t really a need to grab the Naked 1 or 2 if you can access the SK. Honestly, once it’s on the lids, who can tell if your neutral shadows cost $10 or $40? If at some later point, you decide that you need something with higher pigmentation levels for more dramatic makeup, it’s not too late to upgrade to something more high-end.

Hey! My graduation is next week! Mu dress is rose gold and i really need a nighttime makeup look for that color! Do you have any recommendations? Thanks in advance

Step 1: Paint your nails a base shade of turquoise or aqua. I used China Glaze’s For Audrey.

Step 2: Next you want to have some striping tape. If you don’t have any, you can either do it free-hand if you don’t mind lines that aren’t as straight, or cut scotchtape into strips.

"The “Get To Know Me” Post (Some Random Facts about Candice/Makeupbox)"

There were a few requests a while back asking to know more about me outside of makeup. Sorry I took so long to get down to it!

(Long post, so if you don’t want to read skip this and I’ll be back with more pictorials tomorrow!)

1. I love most mammals and birds. I’ve owned 2 dogs, 2 turtles (which we set free eventually), 4 birds (which we also set free), and most recently a cat (who passed away last year :’(…) I donate to animal welfare organisations monthly because sometimes, the least you can do is better than nothing!

Oh I like reptiles too. I wouldn’t pet a snake because I’m not sure they enjoy it when we do that, but I think they’re beautiful.

I want to be Cesar Milan when I grow up. (Just joking…)

2. I am a complete bookworm. I used to devour just about any book when I was a kid. Nowadays, I’ve got a mix of horror, crime/suspense, and a sprinkling of horror in my Kindle.

3. I heart Chocolate. (Cue heavenly music.)

400k Contest Runner-ups: andronicco, signcherie, lionessonacheesegrater!

Reblogged from andronicco

I couldn’t rank the 2nd to 4th place winners in any specific order; it was too hard because they all stood out for different reasons. This was not a contest of pure skills!

A great makeup look is good (and there were lots of incredible looks), but for this contest the overall effort, humor, and thought behind the submission went a long way, and I felt these 4 winners managed to demonstrate that, even if the looks weren’t always complex.

Congrats guys, and do let me know your full shipping details soon (Extending to 22nd since I took a day to announce the winners) or I’ll have to pick the other shortlisted entries on my list!

If you didn’t win a prize this round, please don’t be too disappointed! There were tons of great posts and I had so much trouble picking out 4 that I actually had to enlist help to think through it. (There’ll be more contests and giveaways coming up!)

IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER

C: This was too, too cute. And very creative and unexpected. Andronicco wins Set C: Warm Lips!

signcherie:

Excerpt: “… I consider my personal makeup style to be “evil queen.” As in, yes, I actively try to make myself look like a Disney villain. Because, come on! These women are fabulous!”

c: I love how we could get a nice climpse of her personality and humor in her post, and the reasoning behind the themed look she photographed for this contest. She won Item B, Little Humming Book 2!

lionessonacheesegrater

Excerpt: “… Am I just bad at make up? Do I lack inspiration? Maybe. But at least I can pull off this look, and I think I look good. No Dita, sure, but it’s definitely me.”

C: Last but not least, I liked this post because of the thought and the effort taken to not just pull together images of her makeup journey, but to also detail the story behind it. You won the “Soft Lips” Set, D!

Makeupbox 400k Contest Winning Post: Achjawaaromniet!

achjawaaromniet:

With Shiseido’s accentuating color (for eyes) in Ruby Dazzle, a discontinued green shadow by H&M and MAC lipstick in Russian Red. These are my favorite shadows and this was the perfect opportunity to try and combine them.

I was very impressed by this entry and the whole look. Simple, but dramatic, and very well-done!

You’ve won yourself the Majolica Majorca Little Humming Book 1!
