The Brushed Metal Eye Tutorial: Ridiclously straightforward!

This look was done to coordinate with a nail look I did the other day, and there isn’t really much of a step-by-step to run through because it’s so simple.

image

It’s a basic smoky lid without any shadow on the lower lash line, amd you can do it even if you have mono-lids or hooded eyes, as long as you bring the color up to your socket line so that it’s visible when your eyes are open.

Brushed Metal “Chrome” Nails: How to Use Your Eyeshadows in your Manicure!

Imagine turning your favorite eye shadows into nail polish shades without having to tip tons of pigment into a whole bottle of clear polish or make a mess mixing it on a dish. You just dust it on, topcoat it, and go.

Stay posted for the eye look shown above in the next couple of days!

You just need to add 1 item into your collection; the Repositionable Glue. I don’t need to remind you to look for one that is water-based and non-toxic. Repositionable glues are used to make cut-outs. What these glues do is they go on milky, then dry clear and TACKY, so you can use them like a sticker. (Remember you read it here before some brand repackages it in a smaller bottle, gives it a fancy name and sells it to you for a fancy price LOL!)

Black and Copper Smoke Eyeshadow Tutorial

This is a very simple rounded smoky eye quite reminiscent of the retro 20’s shape, but with the contrast of  high-sheen metallic as a color-accent. This is good for most eye shapes, but is a very strong and dramatic look.

Because of the very intense black rimming and circling the eyes, it will bring out all eye colors, but especially blue and lighter browns because of the copper on the lids.

You will need:

  1. Black pencil or kajal
  2. A matte black shadow
  3. A metallic copper or bronze shadow (I used MAC Metal pigment in Copper; you can try any copper you have; there are many options in the drugstore, or you can try MAC Coppering and Coastal Scents Hot Pot in Copper Pot as well.)
  4. Wispy false lashes (I used Ardell 122s)

The Copper Cat - Graphic Winged Eye

This is an updated recreation of a winged graphic eye, below, that I did awhile back, except this time, I used a copper metallic shadow instead of purple. You can always switch the lid color according to your preference.

This latest version is a little more precise and not quite as dramatic, so it’s up to you which version you prefer to try.

This eye shape can be done for:

  • Mono-lids, hooded lids, regular lids
  • Any eye color; though copper looks especially good with blue eyes, or if you are a woman of color.

Fire Opal: Sparkly Burnished-Gold Lids (usin Martha Stewart Crafts Glitter!)

I mentioned in an earlier post that I found some of the most gorgeous ultra-fine glitters at the craft store.

They’re from Martha Stewart Crafts, and come in the most beautiful shades. These aren’t micro-glitters but they’re certainly the same size as most cosmetic grade glitters from brands like MAC and Lime Crime. The best thing is each 1.5oz glass jar costs less than US$10. The shade I’m using today is Fire Opal, a beautiful blend of pale gold and coppery-bronze.]

[UPDATE: Please note that I am not endorsing or encouraging everyone to pick craft glitters instead of cosmetic glitters. I personally choose only 100% polyester fine-grain round-cut glitters because a lot of times, there is no difference material-wise, but there is no way to be 100% sure of safety, so do consider that before you make your decision!]

80’s Pastel-Suede Makeup (Too Faced Insurance Policy Eyeshadow Collection)

Taking a short break from the glittery looks for something that’s still quite dramatic in shape and texture, but can easily be adapted for daily work wear.

I’m using the Too Faced Insurance Policy Eyeshadow Collection, and there were 4 shades I picked;

  • Boy Toy: Pale cotton candy pink shimmer (MAC Swish is similar)
  • Glamazon: Pale champagne beige (most brands would have a similar soft beige shade)
  • Full Frontal: Warm reddened brown (MAC Sable is very similar)
  • Skinny Dip: Navy shimmery (this color goes on slightly violet over skin; just pick any deep rich blue shimmer)
