[Requested] Olivia Palermo Eye makeup: Tips for women with thick lids and/or deep sockets

Olivia has got to be one of the most beautiful women in the world, in my opinion. She reminds me of Penelope Cruz, Heather Graham and Shania Twain all rolled into one.

I didn’t want to do this post initially, because Olivia’s makeup looks the way it does largely due to her natural eye shape (more common among Indian and Mediterranean women).

  • Very deep and defined sockets
  • Huge, rounded eyes, slightly down-turned at the outer corners
  • Very thick double-lids
  • Medium lid space (probably the only thing I have in common with her, in that her brows are not very far or very low and close to her eyes)

The makeup is quite straightforward and there are no restrictions for skintone. But if your eye shape is very different, it will NOT look like hers, The good news is, everyone with a double lid can wear this makeup.

Not recommended if you have mono-lids or very hooded lids, because this is a shape that emphasizes the visible fold and lash line.

My 5-minute Colorful Half-Liner Eye Look

This is a super quick eye look that I always pop on when I don’t have a lot of time to do my face, and want an eye that is subtle but still has a shot of fun color. I tend to pair this look with a strong blush and bright lips (a coral-pink mostly).

Image notes: 1st image was taken over the weekend for Instagram, with a translucent gold glitter shadow on (Chanel Illusion D’ombre in Vision). For the other images, I used a shimmery beige to demonstrate. Hence the slight difference in finishes!

You don’t need to be an expert or to have a very steady hand to do this. Plus you have tons of shade options. Any colored liner pencil will work as that accent shade, so pick a violet or a royal blue, even a lime green; whatever you like!

Catwalk Trend: Sequinned Eye Makeup a la Chanel (Ideas and Tips)

Chanel seems to have a yearly love affair with Sequins and sparkle. Last year, they went minimalistic and split a single round pailette and stuck it onto models’ lower lash lines, then loaded on the mascara, a warm tawny blush, and natural-looking lips.

This year, they loaded on large-sized hexagonal glitter flakes along the entire lash line and then stuck a few more onto lashes for effect.

I don’t personally find that the most flattering and comfortable look to wear (honestly it looks like a bit of a mess, but who am I to argue with high fashion?), but here are some ideas if you’d like to try the more toned-down look, which I absolutely love!

It’s a great way to jazz up your look for a party without having to do a whole lot of makeup. Read on for tips and tricks!

Simple Neutral Lids, Barely-there Cheeks, and Dramatic Red Glitter Lips!

Night out on the town and not in the mood to mess with complicated makeup? Jazz up a soft eye look in 5 minutes with a dramatic, long-wearing scarlet glitter lip.

The entire look is actually just classic-glamour, with neutral lids and a blue-based red lip, but they won’t notice until you come closer (or the camera flashes) that your crimson pout is COATED with a layer of glitter.

Good for all skin tones and eye shapes.

Requested: Soft and Peachy Lids, Cheeks and Lips

Here’s the inspiration for the look, and while I don’t have the same kewpie-doll features or the porcelain skin of the model, this is the basic way you can recreate the look for yourself.

The key to the look is a matching coral/peach tone on the cheeks and in the crease, echoing a glossy soft coral lip.

Because this is using hazy, matte shades, I would say it’s probably going to work better on pale to medium skins. If you have dark skin, you can definitely still create the effect but you would need a much deeper taupe brown and a stronger peach/brick shadow in order for the look not to go chalky.
