The Purple “V-liner” Look: Simple Work/School-friendly Makeup (Wearable for Girls with Glasses!)

When you wear glasses, it tends to hide most of your eye makeup but the bonus is that you get to wear stronger colors than most people do.

This is a fun and straightforward liner look that works for most eye shapes, because it extends into the socket-line. It’s not going to look like too much straight-on if you wear glasses but from the side and every time you blink, there’s a surprising stroke of color that will show up.

[Requested] Jade Thirlwell makeup in DNA makeup tutorial: Classic Neutral Glam Eyes and 3D Burgundy Lips)

Seems Jade Thirlwell’s makeup in the DNA video is causing quite a stir.

Basic theme:

Now, the video has special lighting and some color editing so there’s a noir sort of atmosphere, and the skin of all the girls looks a little sepia-toned and monochromatic. You won’t see any blush on their faces. There’s just matte, clean skin and a bit of matte contouring around the cheeks. Contrastingly, their hair and lip colors are processed to show up more visibly.

Each girl has a slightly different neutral glam eye, and “3D lips” done in different shades.

Jade Thirwell’s Look:

Jade’s lip was colored in deep berry tones to match that incredible burgundy hair. Her eye makeup is a slightly softer and more romantic than some of the smokier or cattier looks the other girls sport. There isn’t any obvious contouring; just thick liner along the upper lash line.

I would say ANYONE can do this look, although the effect will be more dramatic if you are very pale, with dark hair.

Soft Spring Morning: Simple, Subtle Taupe Eye with a Blue Crease

This is the simplest trick in the book for anyone who wants to incorporate a little pretty color into their neutral look without going over the top.

You can choose to do just Step 1-3 for the day and add a colored crease at night, OR you can easily wear this whole look out from day to night.

This look is good for:

  • Brown, blue, grey eyes
  • All eye shapes and skin colors

If you have green eyes, you can switch the crease shade to a bright violet or a green.

Requested: Soft and Peachy Lids, Cheeks and Lips

Here’s the inspiration for the look, and while I don’t have the same kewpie-doll features or the porcelain skin of the model, this is the basic way you can recreate the look for yourself.

The key to the look is a matching coral/peach tone on the cheeks and in the crease, echoing a glossy soft coral lip.

Because this is using hazy, matte shades, I would say it’s probably going to work better on pale to medium skins. If you have dark skin, you can definitely still create the effect but you would need a much deeper taupe brown and a stronger peach/brick shadow in order for the look not to go chalky.

Peppermint Mocha Sandwich Eyeshadow Tutorial: Shot of green sandwiched between Browns

(88 Original Palette)

This is a simple matte eyeshadow look that is good for neutral lovers or those who prefer things simple and subtle with a spike of something different. (And now I look at it, it looks like Starbucks colors…)

I used 3 matte shades in the 88 original palette: A medium green, a soft taupe brown, and a dark black-brown. You can replace the green with any other color you want. Just change it up and experiment!

Good for:

  • Mature/lined lids
  • Matte shadow lovers
  • Double-lids
  • Brown eyes  (Tip: if you have blue eyes, try an orange, copper, or even a pink for the colored stripe; if you have green or hazel eyes, try violet or lavender.)
