NARS Fall 2011 Collection

It’s drool time.

Wonderful as that electric blue shadow is, what stands out for me as a more worthwhile investment is that beautiful tri-color eye palette (Delphes, US$45) with the plum, olive-taupe and matte dove grey.
But I’m still in lust with the gorgeous slate grey limited edition nail enamel (Galion, $17).
These are paired with muted but wearable matte lipsticks and glosses.

For a less price-y way to rock gorgeous grey nails, try ZOYA Caitlin (US$8).

Eye Candy (Favorite Polishes for Summer 2011)

I’ve been into candy-flavored, pastel-colored shades recently. They look great with a tan, don’t look too out of place with most outfits, aren’t too crazy for work, and sooo pretty they make me smile.
Note: I’ll be listing the names, descriptions, as well as coats needed for an even, non-streaky application so you’ll know which ones are better quality.

Revlon Gum Drop: Perfect pale lavender/lilac creme
Coats Needed: 4 :(
Recommended for: All skin tones
Long time favorite of mine. I hate that it’s hard to avoid streaks even with 3-4 coats, so you can expect to run through this faster than other creme polishes.

ZOYA Caitlin: Dusky lavender-grey creme
Coats Needed: 2
Recommended for: Medium to Pale skins
My jaw dropped when I saw this polish for the first time. It’s the perfect cross between deep-grey and lavender. WICKED on very pale skins.

Sasatinnie Laquer (Un-named): Aquamarine Teal
Coats Needed: 3-4
Recommended for: All skin tones
This color can be worn sheer or built up for the opaque, plastic effect in the image. Flattering and surprisingly wearable for a green.

Skin Food Nail Vita #BL509: Pastel cool-mint pearl
Coats Needed: 2-3
Recommended for: Medium-deep to pale skins
I actually prefer Revlon’s Minted, which is a creme version of this shade. But the Revlon applied so streaky that I threw it out.

Orly Lollipop: Pastel mauve creme
Coats Needed: 1-2
Recommended for: All skin tones
I am soooo in love with this shade right now. It’s the girliest, prettiest pink-purple. Revlon’s Lilac Pastelle is a close second, but I prefer this because it goes on so smooth and even, and you only need 2 coats, max, for opaque, smooth coverage.

Revlon Cotton Candy: Pale nude-pink creme with ivory-pink pearl
Coats needed: 3
Recommended for: All skin tones
This does not apply as evenly as I’d like (even after 3 coats, it can still look slightly streaky), but I’ll forgive it because the color is so beautiful. Pair this with MAC Pinkydee lipstick and dark, smoky eyes.

Revlon Bubblegum: Hot fuschia creme
Coats Needed: 2
Recommended for: All skin tones
Out of all the Revlon polishes I have, this one applies the smoothest. Besides being one of the most gorgeous fuschias around (not too bright, not too warm, not too blue,) it also helps that it smells like watermelon bubblegum.
